Main materials of worm gear reducer

--Shell: aluminum alloy (frame: 025-090), cast iron (frame: 110-150);

--Worm: 20Cr steel, carbonitriding treatment (keep the hardness of tooth surface HRC60 after fine grinding, and the thickness of hard layer > 0.5mm);

--Worm gear: special made of wear-resistant nickel bronze.

Efficiency is an important index of the reducer, which depends on the design and manufacture of the worm and worm gearing as well as the friction condition. Because the reducer has different friction characteristics in running state and static state, the efficiency of the reducer has corresponding dynamic efficiency and static efficiency:

Dynamic efficiency η D: transmission efficiency of reducer under operation condition (dynamic friction);

Static efficiency η s: transmission efficiency of the reducer in the stopped state (static friction);

Because the static friction coefficient of the friction pair is greater than the dynamic friction coefficient, the dynamic efficiency of the reducer is greater than the static efficiency, that is, η d > η s.


Transmission reversibility

The transmission process of applying torque at the output (worm gear) of the reducer to drive the input (worm) is the reverse transmission of the reducer. The transmission reversibility of worm reducer is the characteristic of reverse transmission. This characteristic of the selected reducer must be paid attention to in use.

The transmission reversibility of reducer is related to the efficiency of deceleration, which corresponds to the static efficiency η s and the dynamic efficiency η D. The transmission reversible characteristics of the reducer are described as follows:

η s < 0.5: static irreversible. That is to say, when the reducer is in static state, the input worm can not be driven by applying torque to the output worm gear, and the reverse transmission can self lock.

η s = 0.5-0.55: low static reversible. That is to say, when the reducer is in static state, the input worm can be driven by applying torque to the output worm wheel, and the self-locking is not strong.

η s > 0.5: static reversible. That is to say, when the reducer is in static state, the input worm can be driven by applying torque to the output worm gear, and it can not self lock.

η d < 0.5: power is irreversible. That is, in the transmission process of the reducer, when the input shaft is disconnected from the power, the output shaft can stop immediately.

η d < 0.5-0.6: low power reversible. That is to say, in the transmission process of the worm gear reducer, when the input shaft is disconnected from the power, the output shaft cannot be stopped immediately and reliably.

η d > 0.6: dynamic reversibility. That is, the reducer is in the transmission process. When the input shaft is disconnected from the power, the output shaft cannot stop self-locking.
